Gardens of Remembrance

Gardens of Remembrance is a memorial to the 187 Suffolk County residents who perished on September 11, 2001. A glass enclosure comprised of 188 panels divides two gardens: The Accessible Garden, in which we live, with paths to walk on, places to rest, and markers to guide us; and The Inaccessible Garden, a place we cannot enter. At eye level, each glass panel is deeply etched with the name and personal information of one of the 187 Suffolk County victims, with one panel set aside for the remembrance of all the other victims.
